About Danny

 

One of the most distinctive and beloved voices in all of Gospel music is that of
Danny Funderburk.

 For more than 47 years, people across the country have fallen in love with his incredible talent, as he performed with The Singing Americans, Perfect Heart, Mercy’s Way, and most notably, the prestigious Cathedral Quartet.  

  
Born April 13, 1954, Danny was raised in the rural town of Hemby Bridge, North Carolina. He is the son of a pastor, Bill Funderburk and mother, Betty Jo Funderburk. Danny is married to Shelley Funderburk, and he is the proud father of three beautiful children, Dana, Jason and Derek and stepdad to Matthew and Rebekah. Danny and Shelley have one grandson, Gavin and two granddaughters, Peyton and Aubrey. 
  
Despite suffering four strokes and a heart attack several years back, Danny is feeling strong. He says, “I know God has touched my body. He’s not finished with me yet.” Danny and Shelley travel full time doing what the Lord has called them to do.

Meet Allison Sakata! Allison is Danny and Shelley’s niece. She currently resides in Georgia with her family and works as a paralegal at a law firm there. Alli, as she is affectionately known to her family, is mom to Danny and Shelley’s awesome great nephew, Landon.

Allison takes on the role of part time office manager and handles tasks like monthly newsletters and other “fan” communication along with other various tasks. We are excited to have Allison as part of our team. Landon Farris is no stranger to many of you and we are so excited to have him join us at Danny Funderburk Ministries as promotions director. Landon is 16 years old and lives in Arkansas with his parents and two brothers, Micah and Noah. He is a junior in high school and an accomplished pianist. He currently plays for the group, Four Corners Qt, and often fills in with groups like the mighty Kingsmen.

Landon has been doing promotion/graphic work for us and doing a great job. Each week, he provides quality work that we are proud to display to promote when and where Danny will be singing. Look for it on our ministry Facebook page.

Along with providing graphics, Landon handles other various tasks for the ministry. Pastors, you just might be getting a call from him as he confirms dates and times for us. Dakota Lee is another face that many of you may recognize. He and his wife, Brook, along with their children reside in Georgia. Dakota brings so much knowledge and experience to our team. He recently started a YouTube channel for Danny Funderburk Ministries and he would love to have you send him any videos you have from concerts or events that Danny was a part of to add to this channel. It has been a slow start to the channel due to the premature birth of Dakota’s daughter, Alli-Mae, but give him time and he will soon have it full of fun videos filled with music from Danny. Dakota also helps our ministry with bookings and event planning.
